A Cheerful Dog
There was a time a long time ago when there was a dog that lived in a village as a cheerful dog. It’s tied up beneath a shade tree but always acts cute and nice when people play with the dog. That is why it’s a cheerful dog.
The dog always plays with the people in the village during the daylight and becomes the most adorable dog the people have ever met. But, when there is no one around at night…
he’d moan and whine
No one knows that the dog always hopes that the rope that is tied up and rounded its neck is gone. So that the dog can freely play cheerfully on the field day and night. However, it’s not, and no one ever notices it. Because everyone, the dog is very good at hiding its emotion in front of people who play with him while never ever noticing how hard it is being tied up.
One day, the voice inside the dog says…
‘Why don’t you just cut off the leash and run away ?’
The dog thinks very hard about and answers the question…
I’ve been tied up for way too long so I forgot how to cut myself free.
The dog was too busy to show happiness while playing with the villager during the day until he forgot the most painful things that he had been through all this time. He couldn’t ask for help either because no one noticed that that was painful.
📌 Most of you who watch the Korean Drama “It’s Okay not to be Okay” might be familiar with the story I told through this writing; Episode 7 - The Cheerful Dog.
Some of you might have endless overthinking these days, but do not let your mind defeats you when you can control them.
There are 14,000,605 possibilities that you can strive for.
-Doctor Strange
Humans are creatures with high intelligence to hide their feeling and emotions. Some of them even forget the things that hurt them so much because the fake emotions they show to people are too powerful until it becomes real. But, deep down… when there is a point where that feeling that was hidden blows up, we will moan and cry. When we are trying to think about why we forgot and suddenly remember that, then we remember that we are too busy fulfilling the expectations coming from our surrounding that we need to hide them.
“expectation is a powerful, attractive force. Expect the things you want and don’t expect the things that you don’t want.” -Rhona Byrne on The Power
What I want to say to you all is that…
Sometimes, it is okay not to be okay and let people know about it. It is also okay to try to be okay because you and your surrounding want it. It is okay to kill the vibe of your circle when you feel blue, and it is okay to show your excitement while your friend talks about good news even tho, deep down, your emotions are hidden. But that’s sometimes.
